New Project
I've given myself a 'little' project to do. I am taking an old chair, stripping it, painting it and re-upholstering it. So far I have taken the leather off the arms which took me over two hours to do, since they used an abnormal amount of staples and I don't have the right equipment.

Final Models
Here are my final models for my project at college. They are both based on character personalities from a comic Go Get a Roomie. I'm super happy with the results of the models!

Model Going Well
Finally the steambending has worked well enough that it could be put on a model! It's only a little bit but it makes me really happy. The wood is going to be painted on this model, but the other wont be fully painted. I am planning to keep the top exposed and to keep it pinned down with staples. It doesn't completly go with the 'hippy' look the other model is based on, but it will give it an interesting look...so you will have to wait to see the finished pictures!

Steaming
I had another go at steaming wood today, it has looked like it's worked. It helps that I have a new box and steamer, me and my dad built an industrial looking steamer and it's awesome and works brilliant.
I apologise if you can't read the writing on the picture well.

Note to self...and others as silly as me
Never try and cut MDF with a jigsaw when the MDF isn't clamped down, luckily I still have all my fingers but it got pretty close. Also wear a dust mask and safety glasses, otherwise you WILL get large MDF pieces in your eyes and lungs (or throat if you swallowed some like me...don't ask how I managed that).
Never forget those dreaded words...Health And Safety.

Steam Box Success....Possibly
I have finially managed to bend some wood using my homemade steam box! Unfortunatly the wood broke slightly when bending it around the mould, and it didn't quite fir the mould. But hopefully the wood will keep shape when I take it out the of the mould tomorrow.
Fingers crossed!

Cardboard Models
Here are my first models of the designs for my current project. Made from seperate layers of cardboard and pinned together, they may not look beautiful, but it's given me an idea of possible problems with the designs. Next I will be tweaking the designs, making better cadboard models before making models from better materials.

Steam Box Fail
Today I tried to do some steambending for materials experiment in my project. I made a steambox (With help of my dad), it looked beautiful and I made my own mold. But...dun dun dun...it didn't work out, unfortunatly the pot with the water wasn't air tight enough, which meant the steam escaped there before even going in the box. Despite this I will not be defeated!! I will push on and fix this!

Final Major Project, Designs
For my Final Major Project I have chosen to design two pieces of furniture based on the personalities of two characters, Roomie and Lillian, from the comic Go Get a Roomie link
Here are my development sketches, the first six are Lillian's, and below them are Roomie's.
My next step is materials experimentation and possible further design development.
Bye bye

Growing Up
I have had four interviews for university and been accepted at all four. They are, Bucks New, Sheffield Hallam, Lincoln and Central St Martins, so now I have to make a life changing choice! The choice I've made is Lincoln...yes some of you may gasp because I haven't chosen CSM despite it being so well known and highly regarded, but hey, I know what I'm doing =)
This has made me realised that I will have to start growing up and learn life skills, I know how to tile and plumb but that isn't helpful if you can't cook or wash clothes. I need to get a pass on my current Final project to get to university, but I am aiming for a distinction. So wish me luck everyone.

Structure on The Edge
I have finished this 1/15 model, about 40 minutes ago. This is a viewing platform, 'grown' from the ground on the edge of nature. It is made from Modroc and plaster with a perspex platform (Hence the floating man). It is painted with oil paints, the smell of white spirit is still strong in the air.
Plywood Model Desk
This is a 1/4 model desk I made for a project about a month ago, it is made from 7 layers of plywood and is wall mounted. The drawers would be opened by a push open system.
